Y’all know I love everything JLO-related, right?! I’ve been a huge fan of Jenny from the Block since first laying eyes on her in the late nineties. Even despite all of her really bad choices in relationships and marriages, she’s always managed to have a certain appeal as a celebrity and a Latina for me. Regardless of how criticized her movies and music have been, I still watch them… and listen to them, and make everyone I know listen to them too, jajaja! Sorry guys! Comes with the territory when you’re my amigo.
This latest video though, for her new song Dance Again… I don’t know, kind of is not my favorite. ¡Cómo que no me gusta tanto! Read More

¡Uyy! It takes a lot to get a only a one word response out of me. Usually when something ignites or inspires me in any way I can go and on forever, but this time this album really takes the cake. Turns out the Mexican comedian known as El Norteño – yeah I don’t know who he is either – has recently launched a new music album in response to all those “men-hating” musical compilations put together by the likes of Paquita La Del Barrio over the years titled, quite simply really, Los Machocorridos! Tomorrow marks the 17th anniversary of Selena Quintanilla Perez’s death. For many of us, especially here in Texas, it’s an occasion to remember her music and her life. While this date never goes unnoticed for me, this year, I do feel a little more purpose in celebrating Selena’s memory. I’ve been reading her widower’s book ‘To Selena, With Love‘ and am really enjoying getting to know the Selena he knew and loved behind the scenes. At the same time, I can’t help but remember what Chris Perez shared with me about her during our phone conversation. Read More

You know that feeling when something seems so familiar to you even though it really isn’t? That’s what Las Jilguerillas have always represented to me. A couple of years ago, probably about 10 or so, I first came across their music. How or when I don’t really recall now, though if I had to guess I’d say Univision and they’re telenovelasprobably had something to do with it. Read More

All of 17 years ago, in the immediate aftermath of her death, Selena Quintanilla Perez’s husband, Chris Perez was the one person we rarely saw anywhere, making any comments on behalf of himself or the Quintanilla family about her passing. In fact, until his 1999 studio album with the Chris Perez Band it was sort of like he had disappeared all together. Even when he did come out to promote his new music he rarely said much about his late wife. In his new book, To Selena, With Love, released this month, Perez explains that in a lot of ways he had sort of disappeared into himself. Read More

Where else but the 2012 Billboard Latin Music Awards would Jennifer Lopez andJenni Rivera be nominated under the same category?! Granted their both divas in their own right, and they share the same first name – albeit in different variations – but other than that there’s really few else that the two super stars seem to have in common. Now, they also share a nomination for 2012 Female Songs Artist of the Year at this year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards! Also up for the nomination are Shakiraand Alejandra Guzman. Read More
Don’t know how or why it happened, but it’s safe to say that I am now a fan of something called 3BallMTY. What is it? I’m not exactly sure myself yet, but it is one of the most infectious music sounds I’ve heard in a while. Read More

We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.
